February 2012
After
an autumn working on a series of commissions, which included
four paintings in and around Kenmore and Loch Tay, I am now
back on summer exhibition duty. This will be my fourth year
at the Pittenweem Arts Festival in Fife, which has become
my main focus for the year. As ever, I will be on the stage
of the New Town Hall off Session Street and really looking
forward to it. It’s always great to speak to visitors
from all over Scotland who come to Pittenweem to feast on
the 100 odd shows in the village during the ten day event
in late July-early August. Feedback is always very helpful
– and it comes in all forms! But fingers crossed for
an improvement in the weather. Last year was dominated by
the Fife monsoon and the closing of the main car park for
most of the week, which affected footfall for those of us
on the fringe of the village. Still a fantastic week though.
This year’s
contribution will be a mix of Swiss mountains and lakes, west
coast of Scotland, more moor and mountain and a bit of Edinburgh.
That’s how it looks before the spring anyway. It could
all change as I work away over the next couple of months.
I am also
hoping to contribute to the North Berwick Art Fair from the
3-7 July, which is the second running of the festival, organised
by Kirsten Boston, my fellow exhibitor at Pittenweem, who
doubles as my framer.
In between,
there are some more commissions to complete, which may lead
to spin-off paintings.
I’ll
update nearer the summer – and before a trip to the
Western Isles, which has become a favourite after a visit
three summers ago.
